As if skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing were not enough to keep visitors to John Nike Leisuresport, Llandudno, amused, the
centre has now opened a crazy golf course.

The nine-hole course – which has an Alpine theme to reflect the ski and snowboard centre – comes complete with waterfalls, skis, a ski lift and some (two dimensional) mountains.

John Bell, from the centre, commented: “We opened the crazy golf course in August and it has gone down a storm with visitors of all ages during the winter. It just adds to the variety of activities tourists can enjoy in a fun day out in Llandudno.”

The outdoor course was designed and installed by the Western Log Group and costs £2 per round. Like the centre’s other facilities, crazy golf can now be part of a party or corporate event package. Telephone 01492 874707 for details.

Supporters and players alike welcomed the start of the Thames Valley Tigers’ new basketball season at the Bracknell Sports and
Leisure Centre on 4 October.

The winter has seen two fans’ favourites – New Yorker Tony Holley and Canadian Greg Meldrum – pledge their immediate futures to the club. Measuring in at six feet six inches and six feet seven inches respectively, there is no doubt that the commitment of these two experienced players will be a boost for the team.As Connections went to press, no further signings had been announced but more were expected.

The fun-packed sessions can be organised for parties of 10 people or more and include two races – one on a smooth surface, the other on a rough surface – and a buffet, all for just £30 per person.

It’s been a busy winter for Octagon Toyota with the car dealership taking every opportunity to spread the word about Toyota’s diverse range of vehicles.

Here’s a rundown of some of the activities with which Octagon has been involved over the winter months:

• Octagon manned the Toyota stand at the Henley Royal Regatta in July;
• the Rav4 and new Landcruiser were on show at the Pony Club open horse trials at Windsor Great Park on 13 July;
• Octagon sponsored the Finchampstead Cricket Club family fun day on 13 July and put a selection of cars on display;
• the range was also exhibited at the High Wycombe Motor Show on 19 and 20 July;
• the commercial vehicle range was on show again at the Jubilee Building Supplies Open Day at John Nike Way, Bracknell, on 12 and 13 August;
• Octagon had a hospitality unit at the Reading and Wokingham Agricultural Show on 7 September; and
• the biggest show of all was the Newbury Show on 21 and 22 September where Octagon staff manned the Toyota village. The entire Toyota vehicle range was on display and visitors to the show were given the opportunity to drive in the new Landcruiser on an off-road course.
