New ski surface hits the slopes

Initial trials of a brand new ski carpet surface have been hailed a resounding success. The ski carpet is manufactured by Techmat
2000 Limited following two years of research and design, and will be sold under the brand name PERMA-SNOW™.

The revolutionary surface was laid on one of the ski slopes at the John Nike Leisuresport Centre in Bracknell, where skiing and
boarding experts were invited to trial the product. Skiing on PERMA-SNOW™ comes far closer to the ‘on snow’ experience because of its softer texture and carpet covering. One description of the new product has been: "It looks like snow, it feels like snow, it
skis like snow."
The traditional diamond-shaped brush matting will, in future, be made to order by Techmat 2000 Ltd who have manufactured the bristle matting for 17 years. Production will now concentrate on manufacturing the new ski carpet. The unveiling of PERMA-SNOW™ will be at the Daily Mail Ski Show in Olympia, London, where it will be displayed on the Techmat 2000 stand. Technical advice will be available and any registration of interest will be entered into a computer database.

The official launch is planned for late November at the Bracknell Ski Centre, where the intermediate slope will be covered with PERMA-SNOW™ .Invitations will be sent out to those seriously interested and anyone who registers at the show will receive priority status.

The Nike Group will be undertaking talks with the leading insurers to negotiate special rates for users of PERMA-SNOW™. The Ultimate
Ski Slope Surface - The Safer Surface. Further news will appear in the next edition of Connections.
