If skiing or snowboarding
are something that you have always wanted to try but have never got
round to, then forthcoming open days at the John Nike Leisuresport
centres could be just the opportunity you need to give them a go.
Plans are in place for an open day at John Nike Leisuresport, Swadlincote,
in September – although the date has not yet been finalised. Visitors
will have the chance try skiing and snowboarding and enjoy a buffet
meal.There will also be a guest appearance by Polo the Polar Bear
(above), the mascot of John Nike Leisuresport Limited.
At Plymouth, as well as reduced price group taster sessions – £2 for
a half hour skiing or snowboarding lesson – there will be a slalom
race to promote the John Nike Leisuresport Alpine Race Club. Regulars
will also be treated to reduced price open practice and open snowboard
freestyling sessions.

Tigers launch new lego range  |
Thames Valley Tigers capped off a great season on the basketball court with guest appearances at one of Berkshire and England’s top
tourist attractions to promote the sport to youngsters.
British Basketball League (BBL) sponsor, Lego, invited the Tigers
to give top tips and encouragement to visitors to its Windsor-based
LegoLand around Easter. In total the Tigers’ entertained fans for
four days.
As the BBL team local to Windsor, the Tigers were asked to go along
to boost the launch of Lego’s new basketball range, which includes
models of courts and top international players.
In real life action, the team was celebrating after finishing fourth
in the 11 team-strong BBL Championship to reach the play-offs. Unfortunately,
the Tigers’ title hopes will have to be kept on ice until the next
season starts in autumn after they lost 85-101 to Newcastle Eagles
in the quarter final at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.
