Get your Christmas celebrations started on the right
note |
|
It may be the height of
summer but it’s never too early to start planning an office Christmas
party or a festive family feast and, as usual, the six John Nike Leisuresport
centres have an exciting programme of entertainment planned.
The annual pantomime has been held at the Bracknell ice rink for the
last 15 years and is a hit with local children and adults alike. Building
on the success of last year’s ‘A Christmas Carol on Ice’, the show
for 2003 will be ‘The Knights before Christmas’ – telling the story
of King Arthur and the round table with a festive slant. The show will
have something for everyone, combining beautiful ice skating with
romance, swashbuckling action and magic. It runs from 10 to 14 December
and tickets are already on sale – call 01344 789000 to book.
If you’re planning a Christmas celebration, for juniors or office
colleagues, the Bracknell centre can cater for parties of all ages
for up to 100 people.
There’s nothing like joining your friends or colleagues for an Alpine-themed
fondue evening to get you in the Christmas spirit – something that
all the ski and snowboard centres are inviting you to try this yuletide.
At Chatham, for example, it can be combined with a disco to form an
entire evening’s entertainment.
Alternatively, try one of Swadlincote’s famous ‘umpah’ evenings (£16.95
per person), combining a traditional Bavarian band with a fourcourse
meal and two rides on the toboggan run.
Father Christmas will be busy as the guest of honour at several of
the centres, including Llandudno, Swadlincote and Plymouth. At the
latter, he will be joined by Polo the Polar Bear mascot and both will
be making an appearance on the toboggan run. After working up an appetite
on the slopes, the new menu at the restaurant on site will tempt your
tastebuds.
Bracknell and Bristol ice rinks will also be offering children’s parties
and can cater for up to 500 people – if you want to treat your children
and their friends then why not enquire about a skating disco?

The Nike Group in brief |
Customers of Lightfoots
petrol station at Amen Corner, Bracknell, are well aware of how competitive
their petrol prices are and now radio listeners across Berkshire and
North Hampshire are well aware of that fact too.
The petrol station is often mentioned on a regular feature on local
radio station 2Ten FM which lets listeners know where they can find
the cheapest petrol in the area.
Barry Sillett, Manager at Lightfoots, said:“We are delighted to provide
the people of Bracknell with good value petrol and look forward to
serving new customers who hear about us on the radio.”
Nike Design is continuing to expand its business, with yet more contracts
for school development projects.
The Bridgend-based consultancy has now won eight commissions in five
schools over the last three years. The latest is for the construction
of a new four- classroom teaching block for Bryntirion Comprehensive
School in Bridgend.
Roger Finch, of Nike Design, told Connections: “We have designed the
block in traditional materials of facing brickwork with a tiled roof. The
classrooms will be built to last, making them better value for money
than ‘temporary’ classrooms.”
