Daily Mail show attracts an avalanche of visitors

The 2002 Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard Show at Olympia in London hosted the most adventurous display yet for John Nike Leisuresport Limited.

The traditional stand was a hive of activity providing entertainment for all the family.

Visitors to the stand were able to take advantage of special show discounts with bookings for lessons being 15 per cent up on last year’s show. Techmat 2000 also attracted considerable interest and secured an order for ‘slide mat’.

Children were presented with furry bug novelties, balloons and lollies all carrying the John Nike Leisuresport web address, with staff encouraging the children to log on to the website.

Adults and children were drawn to the stand by a snowboard simulator competition with 1,530 entrants all eager to win one of the many prizes, including skis, a snowboard and snowblades. The prizes were presented to the lucky winners by John Nike, Chairman, at a special Champagne reception held at the Coppid Beech Hotel (see picture).

John Nike Leisuresport instructors demonstrated their expertise on a 30 metre teaching slope constructed in the exhibition hall. The instructors provided ski and snowboard lessons to 106 visitors per day, making a grand total of 980 very happy customers benefiting from a free lesson.

This year saw the launch of Polo, the new John Nike Leisuresport mascot (see page 3). Carol Hudleston, Ski Show Co-ordinator, told Connections: "The polar bear became an instant celebrity. His every appearance was met with smiles and it was not only the children who queued up to be photographed with him."

Carol concluded: "This year’s Ski and Snowboard show focused on activity and John Nike Leisuresport certainly provided fun and enjoyment for all - including staff who all worked extremely hard and had a jolly good time."
