Tempt your tastebuds at The Swan at Streatley

Head Chef at The Swan at Streatley Anthony Jones, has brought with him a fresh approach to cuisine and new and exiting menues to tempt the tastebuds.
The Nike Group appointed Anthony, who used to work at Champneys Health Spa, in February to breathe new life into the catering operation.
When the Group purchased the hotel at the end of 2001, its restaurant had one AA rosette. As is the case when any hotel is taken over, this was removed until the new owners could introduce their own style and standards. Anthony has worked closely with Neil Thrift, Executive Chef at The Coppid Beech in Bracknell, The Swan's sister hotel, to offer a fusion of English, French and Oriental cuisine. As a result, the restaurant - which has been renamed Cygnetures - has regained not just its original rosette, but has been awarded a second.
With dishes such as: roast rump of new season lamb with roasted garlic, baby onions, aubergine, plum tomato, leeks and green beans served with warm pesto dressing; and saltimbocca of monkfish stuffed with tomato concasse and sage, the menus will satisfy even the more discerning diner. And, with his experience of cooking at Champneys for the health-conscious customer, Anthony will also be using more organic meats and vegetables.
Anthony said: "The a la carte menu will change every four to six weeks to take account of seasonal produce and the table d'hote menu will be revised weekly. I also have plans to introduce a new bar menu and a two- course, lighter lunch in the restaurant."
Like The Coppid Beech, The Swan at Streatley offers catering for private functions, business meetings and conferences. For more information, or to book, call 01491 878800.

Corollas on ice

The driving skills or tour sales executives were put to the test when they each took a Corolla for a spin on the ice rink at John Nike Leisuresport, Bracknell, to promote the choice and value available at Octagon Motor Company.
The cars - a Corolla T3, Corolla T -sport and two Corolla Versos - were driven on to the rink during the half-time interval of the final Bracknell Bees match of the season. The audience was also given a short talk about the cars. Keeping the drivers company in each car were several of the Honeywell Honey Bees, the ice hockey team's cheerleading squad.
Mary Hillier, from Octagon, said: "The drivers all had a training session to make sure the cars didn't skid and it was certainly a good demonstration of the Toyotas' steering capabilities!"
