IIP acolade for John Nike Leisuresport Limited |
|
The end of 2001 brought a
well-deserved accolade for John Nike Leisuresport Limited as it received
the Investors in People award.
The company has been working towards the award for several years but
stepped up its efforts in the last 12 months, by having a dedicated
and determined management team focusing on turning weaknesses into
strengths.
An assessor visited three of the John Nike Leisuresport centres, picked
at random, and interviewed staff at all levels. They were asked how
they felt about the company, if they knew the business plan, and what
they thought of training and development.
The evidence gathered from the visits was presented to an independent
panel, who decided that the company is worthy of the Investors in
People title.
Sue Coffey, Group Human Resources Manager, explained how much it meant
to receive the award: "We are evolving in the right direction
with regard to how we develop our employees, which is essential for
any company. This award allows us to focus on what we are doing well,
see where our shortfalls are, and do something about them. It's a
great way to see how we can improve which will
help us to retain staff."
John Nike Leisuresport Limited is the second of the Nike Group of
Companies to receive the Investors in People award, following the
Coppid Beech Hotel in 1995.

Future developments afoot for Techmat |
|
Techmat 2000, formerly SkiTech,
is going from strength-to-strength as many artificial ski slopes are
using its ski matting - and it's
lasting longer than other brands.
Techmat's white slide mat has also been chosen by companies exhibiting
at recent ski shows to complement snow on both portable slopes and
children's play areas. It is an ideal surface for young children being
introduced to skiing, due to the lack of edge control and because
they don't hurt themselves as much if they fall.
This idea is being developed further with the aim of producing a carpet
surface suitable for beginners and experienced skiers alike. The company
also offers carpet material for slope surrounds, available in any
colour to match its location.
John Leonard is available for a consultation about availability and
suitability of Techmat's products to your particular requirements.
